We Keep Us Safe echoes in my mind more and more these days. Watching Minnesotans stand up for their neighbors — witnessing acts of care and courage shared freely — has brought this idea into sharp focus. In a time marked by cruelty, unfairness, and unjust actions, I find myself wanting to do something. This is my something.
This poster shifts from my previous work. Hands grasping forearms — steady, secure — carry one another forward. The forms verge on abstraction, the interlocking arms creating the subtle impression of a crumpled flag. I kept the colors intentionally “patriotic” as a reminder: it is profoundly American to support one another.
This 12 × 18 inch print was created from a hand-carved linocut block paired with wood type at Partners in Print in Seattle. It was printed on a Vandercook Universal 4 press at the same shop.
