Invest in the Art that Connects

Support The Visible Voice and LGBTQ+ storytelling through traditional printmaking

Over the next several months (and hopefully beyond), I will be immersed in a series of artist residencies and creative projects centered on queer identity, storytelling, and traditional printmaking. These opportunities give me dedicated time and space to develop my current project, In Plain Sight — a portrait and interview series highlighting the lived experiences of trans and non-binary individuals. Residencies are an opportunity to step away from everyday obligations and focus completely on my art and a specific project.

Some of these residencies are funded. Others require me to pay to attend. All of them are vital to my growth as an artist and to the life of this work.

This is where you come in.

Be a Part of the Process

Instead of asking for donations, I’m offering a chance to invest in my art practice. Your contribution helps fund:

  • Residency costs (fees, travel, housing, materials)

  • The creation of In Plain Sight (interviews, portraiture, printmaking)

  • A sustainable and inclusive creative career

And in return, you receive original, tangible pieces of this journey — artwork made during these very residencies.

Why Does this Matter?

When you support an artist, you’re not just funding supplies — you’re investing in time, space, and freedom. You’re helping build a world where trans and queer voices are heard, held, and honored.

You're not just receiving artwork — you're receiving stories, presence, humanity.

Current & Upcoming Internships/Residencies + Projects

This fall, I’ll be undertaking an intensive internship at Bruno Press in St. Joseph, MN — a pivotal step in my development as a printmaker and storyteller.

Bruno Press, founded and operated by printmaker Mary Bruno, is known for its dedication to traditional letterpress, bold reduction prints, and vibrant, community-centered artwork. Mary’s expertise in color layering, reduction techniques, and expressive print language makes this a rare and invaluable learning opportunity.

During this internship, I’ll be immersed in hands-on printmaking practices — sharpening my technical skills in linocut, reduction printing, typesetting, and color theory. I’ll also use this time to interview subjects, sketch portraits, and experiment with color palettes that reflect and inform the themes of my larger project: amplifying the voices and humanity of transgender and non-binary individuals through print and portraiture.

While the internship is unpaid, the creative and technical growth it offers is essential to pushing my work — and this project — forward. The knowledge I gain here will directly shape the prints, portraits, and stories I bring to life in the months ahead.

I’ve been accepted to a self-directed artist residency at Power and Light Press in Silver City, New Mexico — an independent, women-owned letterpress studio known for its bold designs, creative activism, and commitment to community and craft.

During this residency, I’ll have full access to their incredible print shop, allowing me the focused time and resources to deepen my printmaking practice and advance my current project: a portrait and storytelling series amplifying the voices of transgender and non-binary individuals through traditional print and visual narrative.

I’ll be spending this time compiling interviews, exploring new print and color techniques, and connecting with the team of generous and innovative artists behind Power and Light, including founder Kyle Durrie and her community of resident printers. Their spirit of experimentation, activism, and unapologetic creativity is a powerful influence — and exactly the kind of energy I want to bring into my own work.

While this residency is self-funded, covering my housing, food, and materials, the experience it offers — access to a top-tier letterpress studio, a vibrant printmaking community, and space for creative exploration — is invaluable to the next phase of my artistic and personal development.

In April, I’ll be attending a month-long artist residency at the renowned Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT — one of the largest and most respected residency programs for visual artists and writers in the country.

This residency offers me a rare and invaluable opportunity to fully immerse myself in my ongoing portrait and storytelling project centered on the voices and lived experiences of transgender and non-binary individuals. With lodging, meals, and studio space provided, I’ll have the gift of uninterrupted time, creative solitude, and access to a diverse community of artists — all of which are essential to advancing and refining this work.

The residency is only partially funded, meaning I am responsible for covering the remaining costs — but the value of this time cannot be overstated. It will be a period of total focus, where the project can truly take shape in both concept and form, free from the distractions of everyday life. I anticipate this month being a turning point — a space for deep exploration, experimentation, and connection that will move the work forward in transformative ways.
